We recently came across an article from CU Insight called “5 Reasons you should file your taxes early”. Many people wait until the last minute, but we agree, filing early really is a good idea.
Here’s one reason: You’ll be less stressed. Hopefully you are expecting a refund, but if you think you will have to owe money this year, filing early gives you more time to pay. Remember, taxes need to be paid in full by April 18th. By splitting up the total amount you owe over several months (from the time you file until April 18, 2017), you can set aside smaller payments at a time until you reach the full amount. Tackle the amount a little at a time so it’s more manageable for your budget. Just make sure you hit your goal by the due date!
